The past
December 2nd 2015 we boarded into an adventure way to Montego Bay, Jamaica. We
were full of expectations and hope. We started our participation in the regional
contest “Company of the year” COY Jamaica’s edition. The contest joined 25
enterprises from 20 countries of America.
SEK – Ecuador International school has participated in other
editions,this was its third time.
As you know
to reach an important goal in life there is a lot of effort in the path. Our
journey included stopovers and hours of waiting time at airports and hotels.
But everything was worth it. In this article I want to thank every single
person that made our participation possible. Moreover, I want to show you the
hard work behind the scene.
On one hand,
we were focused on the idea that we wanted to reach the best place not only a
good place. This process demanded high levels of training and attitude from the
students representing ImaginART J.A. Indeed, during all the competition, they
not only practiced the knowledge acquired in class but they discovered the
entrepreneur inside themselves. They applied business, strategic and persuasive
skills to convince a group in investors that their idea was the winner idea, up to the point of
assuring the image and reputation of the company since the very beginning of
the contest.
Our days were
intense, each moment was unique, and the five entrepreneurs, representatives of
ImaginART J.A. boosted their imagination to demonstrate the essence of the
Company that was the passion to create, imagine and believe. Furthermore, their
discipline and the correct attitude let them have a positive relationship with
other contestants that grabbed the attention of the jury on ImaginART.
The official
presentation moment was decisive because it was timed, only four minutes for
the company to show the jury the concept and make them feel attracted to it.
Additionally, it was stressful to present the company to seven members of the
panel. After the presentation, without any time off, we continued the executive
performance in the business fair where they were evaluated by the board one
more time and assessed by two other sponsor companies (Delta and Fedex). The
business fair was a professional event and all the contestants enjoyed showing
their products to the potential customers.
On the last day, students had a personal interview
with the judges they were professional all the time and they felt they had a
great experience talking to them. Finally, in the award ceremony it was proven
the result of so much effort, discipline and passion. I am so proud of being
the mentor of such team but overall I am honored because we could show what we
do in Ecuador and for the first time in the Regional contest, we got the First
place, with ImaginART J.A. representing SEK Ecuador International School and
Ecuador. The representative members were
Antonio Moral, Alex Madrazo, Daniela Castro, Ana Lucía Suáres and Nicole
Salazar and their mentor Karolina Acosta.
